Father and the First World War: What did your father do in the First World War? In World War I - he was with the "Mounted Tyrolean Kaiserschützen". I have a picture of father on a horse. ..when he came back from close combat he was to receive the gold medal for courage. Of course that had to be suggested by his superior. And he had just died.So no one recommended him and he didn't get it. ..I have a number of medals here. I don't yet know who to leave them to. Should I leave them to the Jewish Community or should I give them.. to Bergisel? - Then they would be in a museum -
